Sunday, 1st July, 23 people were ordained as deacons at Manchester Cathedral by the Bishop of Manchester, the Rt. Revd. David Walker. It is thought to be the largest group ever ordained in one service in Manchester. The group included the Bishop’s wife, Sue Walker; two members of St. Paul’s, Kersal Moor – Hilary Shedlock and Andy Smith; the new curate at St. Philip’s, Simon Watkinson; and Grace Thomas, daughter-in-law of Hilary and David, who is curate in Moss Side and Whalley Range.
